Canada’s Government committed up to $8.7 million to the Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL) to expand biomanufacturing workforce training. The funding is delivered via the Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program and supports CASTL’s Supporting Workforce Capacity in Canada’s Biomanufacturing Sector initiative. CASTL said the program will train up to 1,800 Canadians across multiple cohorts, including mid-career workers, displaced workers, newcomers, and youth. The initiative also includes pathways for current workers to upgrade capabilities as industry requirements evolve. The effort targets practical, hands-on training at CASTL’s facilities in Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and British Columbia, aiming to address skills shortages as Canadian biomanufacturing capacity continues to expand.
