Personalized medicine company Viome Life Sciences and Scripps Research have initiated a collaboration to develop and clinically validate an at-home RNA-based screening test for colorectal cancer prevention. The 1,000-patient observational study will analyze stool and saliva samples using RNA sequencing to identify biomarkers associated with precancerous colon polyps. Success in this study could lead to a non-invasive diagnostic test distributed through licensed physicians, potentially revolutionizing early detection and screening by reducing reliance on colonoscopies.
