RQ Bio closed an oversubscribed $115 million Series A financing to advance RQB01, a long-acting antibody strategy for seasonal influenza prevention in high-risk and immunocompromised populations. The company said its program is designed for single-dose, season-long protection and is currently in IND-enabling work. The financing was led by Frazier Life Sciences, with participation from LifeArc Ventures and other named investors including Forbion and EQT Life Sciences. RQ Bio also appointed Christian Schade as executive chairman. The company described its approach as a dual mechanism targeting influenza elements intended to remain conserved despite viral evolution, aiming to address limitations of vaccine effectiveness variability from year to year. Why it matters: if the program can demonstrate durable prophylaxis in clinical testing, it could carve out a new category in influenza prevention for patients who do not reliably benefit from standard vaccination.
