Veeva Systems unveiled a new AI agent, Study Builder, aimed at speeding up clinical trial study configuration for sponsors using Veeva EDC and Data Quality System. The tool ingests trial protocols and drafts configurations—such as EDC forms and visit schedules—using CDISC standards to reduce manual build time. Veeva said the agent can configure study elements in as little as 24 hours, provided sponsors have structured protocols and existing standards in place. The technology uses an agentic AI framework and runs on Anthropic’s Claude model, with human oversight built in. The company plans to offer the feature to licensees starting in December and said sponsors already using Veeva EDC can access it at no additional cost. The announcement positions Veeva as pushing deeper automation into clinical operations, where study build timelines and quality control steps can create schedule risk. For industry users, the immediate operational impact will be speed-to-EDC setup and potential reductions in configuration errors, but uptake will depend on protocol standardization and integration with existing EDC workflows.
