United Therapeutics agreed to acquire Thymmune Therapeutics in a $300 million regenerative medicine deal focused on thymic cell therapies to restore T-cell function. The transaction includes $140 million upfront and additional milestone payments of up to $160 million tied to clinical and regulatory progress, according to deal disclosures. Thymmune’s platform converts human induced pluripotent stem cells into thymic cells that mature in vivo to generate a “neo-thymus,” with its lead candidate THY-100 in preclinical development for congenital athymia. The acquisition extends United Therapeutics’ efforts to expand organ alternatives and immunomodulatory programs, including its UThymoKidney clinical program and earlier work leveraging cell-based technologies.
