The United Arab Emirates announced a partnership with Colossal Biosciences to establish the Colossal BioVault and World Preservation Lab at Dubai’s Museum of the Future, a nine‑figure initiative designed to preserve genetic material and accelerate conservation research. The facility will house millions of samples, focusing initially on 100 highly imperiled species and integrating robotics, AI monitoring and cryopreservation. Colossal framed the project as a distributed "backup plan for life on Earth," providing genomic data to inform biodiversity planning and restoration. The collaboration combines public funding and private synthetic biology capabilities to create an internationally accessible repository and a platform for conservation research.
