Basecamp Research, together with Anthropic, Ultima Genomics and PacBio, launched the Trillion Gene Atlas initiative to vastly expand evolutionary sequence data used to train biological AI models. Partners said the project will collect genomic data from millions of species and scale model training datasets by orders of magnitude to accelerate AI‑driven therapeutic design. The announcement—presented at SXSW and GTC—signals growing industry efforts to pair large, diverse sequence repositories with advanced compute (NVIDIA) and reasoning models (Anthropic) to enable next‑generation foundation models in biology. Organizers positioned the atlas as an enabler for AI systems to learn from evolutionary diversity and design novel therapeutics, pending logistics, ethical sourcing and data‑sharing commitments.
