NewBiologix and Synastra Biotechnology signed an agreement to develop a stable producer cell line for Synastra’s investigational Duchenne muscular dystrophy rAAV gene therapy program. NewBiologix will use its Xcell platform to generate and characterize a research cell bank designed to support reproducible, scalable vector manufacturing. The collaboration targets a major constraint in systemic AAV dosing: productivity, consistency, and cost at scale. The agreement also includes an option to transition toward a commercial license, aiming to support future clinical and commercial supply. For developers, earlier manufacturing investment can reduce downstream variability risks and shorten the time to consistent vector lots—especially important when high systemic doses are needed for disease-modifying delivery.
