Tempus’ acquisition plan for Personalis doubles down on diagnostic data and automation in MRD testing, building directly on the existing NeXT Personal commercialization partnership. In a definitive agreement, Tempus will pay $16.25 per share, representing an approximately 6% premium, for an enterprise value of roughly $1.5 billion net of Tempus’ existing stake. Tempus says combining Personalis’ tumor-informed MRD workflow with its multimodal data platform and AI capabilities is intended to expand biomarker discovery and personalized cancer decision-making. The company expects to use its commercial infrastructure to support clinical adoption as reimbursement expands. Personalis’ preliminary results show continuing volume growth, with 10,384 clinical tests delivered in the quarter and second-quarter revenue of $22.4 million, underscoring momentum ahead of the transaction close. For the diagnostics market, the deal reinforces MRD as a central on-ramp for precision oncology, particularly for recurrence monitoring after treatment response.
