Integrated DNA Technologies and Illumina partnered to connect Illumina’s DRAGEN secondary analysis pipeline with IDT oncology library preparation workflows. The collaboration focuses on DRAGEN somatic analysis optimized for IDT xGen FFPE and cfDNA panels, with an initial FFPE workflow already available and additional cfDNA-focused tooling planned for next year. IDT said the DRAGEN Somatic pipeline adds a low-quality FFPE mode to improve analysis of challenging, low-input tumor samples. The analyzed outputs are also designed to be compatible with Illumina Connected Insights, targeting streamlined somatic variant reporting. For labs and diagnostic developers, the integration reduces manual pipeline complexity and supports more consistent bioinformatics across sample types, which is often a bottleneck in clinical and translational sequencing operations. The partnership’s value is likely to be felt most in real-world throughput scenarios where FFPE sample variability and turnaround time matter as much as raw sequencing performance.
