Teal Health partnered with Washington University School of Medicine to study whether community-based outreach and at-home HPV self-collection can raise cervical cancer screening rates in underserved areas. The pilot, part of the SCORE Initiative across Illinois and Missouri, will compare kit return rates, telehealth completion, follow-up engagement after abnormal results, and participant experience. The design targets participation pathways—women who enroll via independent QR sign-up versus those offered enrollment help and education at community events such as health fairs and food banks. Teal Health’s HPV self-collection device received FDA regulatory approval last year, and samples are processed at Teal’s CLIA-certified lab. Investigators anticipate results that could inform how health systems and Medicaid programs deploy flexible screening models when traditional clinic-based uptake lags.
