A two-center retrospective study developed a support vector machine model to predict gastrointestinal bleeding within 72 hours after endovascular stroke thrombectomy. By stratifying short-term GI hemorrhage risk, the model aims to help clinicians manage prophylaxis and monitoring intensity during a critical window. The focus on early post-procedure complications aligns with current demand for decision-support systems that can translate into faster bedside triage. If prospectively validated, such modeling could reduce avoidable harm by targeting surveillance and medication decisions to higher-risk patients rather than using uniform protocols.
