Multiple preclinical studies pointed to new molecular nodes linking ferroptosis regulation to cancer growth and therapy response. A study identified FOXA1 as a driver of ferroptosis suppression in cervical cancer cells through direct activation of SLC7A11 transcription, while another work highlighted IGF2BP3 stabilizing TROAP mRNA and suppressing ferroptosis via an SLC7A11/GPX4 axis in non-small cell lung cancer. Separately, researchers reported a durable ferroptosis fingerprint tied to a reducing-agent-resistant transferrin receptor 1 dimer detectable in tissues and blood extracellular vesicles—positioning ferroptosis monitoring as an emerging translational target.
