Swiss Rockets secured an exclusive license to MGI/Complete Genomics’ CoolMPS sequencing chemistry for markets outside Asia‑Pacific and plans to launch CoolMPS-based sequencers as soon as next year. The deal grants perpetual rights outside APAC, with an option to expand into Asia in 2026 subject to MGI decisions. Swiss Rockets, a Basel-based incubator and holding company, will rely on Complete Genomics and MGI expertise for initial R&D and manufacturing support. Executives argued a Swiss-based supplier could better access western markets amid geopolitical tensions. The move reintroduces CoolMPS into the Western instrumentation race and could intensify competition on cost, throughput and regional supply chains in NGS hardware.
