Breakthrough T1D awarded Greenstone Biosciences a $1.2 million, three-year Industry Discovery and Development Partnership grant to study biologic variations across type 1 diabetes patients. The company will generate induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from 20 donors and differentiate them into 3D pancreatic islet organoids for multi-omics profiling. The work will combine single-cell RNA sequencing, chromatin accessibility mapping, proteomics, and metabolomics to evaluate how insulin-producing beta cells respond to metabolic stress and potential treatments. Greenstone said iPSC lines and summary-level datasets will be banked and made publicly available to support biomarker and target discovery.
