Canada’s Stem Cell Network made its first direct company investment by awarding $1 million to Montreal-based RejuvenRx through a new Incubation Investment Award program. SCN said the initiative is meant to fill an early-stage funding gap between scientific discovery and clinical, manufacturing, and private investment readiness. RejuvenRx is developing an oral medicine designed to restore healthy blood-forming stem cells and rebuild immune function, targeting serious blood cancers and other diseases where treatment options may be limited without stem-cell transplantation. The company builds on scientific work behind UM171 from Université de Montréal, which boosts stem-cell transplant effectiveness. For the Canadian regenerative medicine ecosystem, the deal is a concrete step to keep promising technologies local through preclinical translation and into the clinical development pipeline.
