Confo Therapeutics presented preclinical characterization of CFTX-2034, a selective somatostatin receptor subtype 5 (SSTR5) agonist being developed for life-threatening post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH). The company framed the program around PBH episodes that can become refractory and dangerous after bariatric surgery. CFTX-2034 was characterized using the company’s platform to target the specific biology of hypoglycemic episodes through SSTR5 modulation. The preclinical results were positioned as supportive of continued development toward clinical evaluation. As PBH is a smaller, high-need orphan-like indication, strong target specificity and compelling preclinical activity are key differentiators for attracting partners and advancing toward first-in-human studies.
