10x Genomics launched Atera, an in situ spatial biology platform positioned for whole-transcriptome profiling with single-cell resolution and high throughput at AACR. The instrument is scheduled to begin shipping in the second half of the year, with a list price of $495,000. Atera is designed to run whole-transcriptome assays covering 18,000 genes and to support targeted Atera Select panels with faster turnaround, along with a new cloud workflow for storing, analyzing, visualizing, and collaborating on spatial datasets. 10x also disclosed an early-access list that includes DKFZ and major U.S. academic centers. The company said Macrogen and its U.S. subsidiary Psomagen will acquire multiple Atera instruments, and Bruker’s CosMx Spatial Molecular Imager is expected to face competitive pressure as Atera ramps commercially.
