10x Genomics disclosed that Spatial Genomics and Caltech filed a patent infringement lawsuit over the company’s Xenium spatial biology platform. The case, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges infringement of five patents assigned to Caltech that cover sequential hybridization barcoding and multiplex labeling/imaging methods. Spatial Genomics, which uses a GenePS platform built around sequential fluorescence in situ hybridization, filed a motion to move the suit under seal. In response, 10x said it believes the claims are meritless and intends to defend itself vigorously.
