Ipsen has signed a $228 million upfront acquisition of Memo Therapeutics, betting on potravitug, a clinical-stage monoclonal antibody candidate aimed at BK polyomavirus-associated nephropathy (BKPyVAN) in kidney transplant recipients. Memo’s asset received FDA fast-track designation in 2023 as there are currently no approved treatments for this complication. Ipsen also said the total deal value could reach €700 million (about $798 million), depending on development, regulatory, and sales milestones. The company cited phase 2 data showing sustained viral-load reductions and resolution of biopsy-proven nephropathy and indicated it expects to move toward a pivotal Phase 2/3 trial later this year.
