EQT agreed to acquire Qiagen for about €10.8 billion (roughly $12.1B) in cash, taking the life-sciences tools and diagnostics provider private. The transaction follows years of strategic review and takeover interest and aims to provide Qiagen flexibility for longer-term investment under a private owner. Qiagen’s boards said the buyout provides the best prospects for growth and cash value to shareholders. The deal includes approval from both the Supervisory and Managing boards after evaluating strategic alternatives with strategic and financial parties. For biotech operations, a change in ownership can affect pricing, supply reliability, and platform roadmap decisions in sample processing and testing workflows used across research and diagnostics.
