Servier said its purchased muscular dystrophy drug sevasemten failed in the pivotal GRAND CANYON Phase 3 trial in Becker muscular dystrophy, with the experiment missing primary and secondary endpoints. The setback follows Servier’s $1.55 billion upfront deal for the program from Edgewise Therapeutics and caps a fast-moving bet on a field with no approved treatments. Servier said it is conducting a comprehensive analysis of the GRAND CANYON dataset alongside prior clinical data to characterize the findings. Separate reporting also framed the earlier Phase 2 results as promising, making the Phase 3 miss a sharper blow for both patients and Servier’s deal economics. The failure is likely to intensify scrutiny of endpoint selection, trial populations, and how early signals translate to pivotal settings in rare neuromuscular disease.
