A real-world study reported that Nefecon—targeted-release budesonide—reduced proteinuria and preserved kidney function in patients with primary IgA nephropathy. The analysis also included patients starting treatment with relatively low levels of proteinuria. The dataset provides a practical complement to earlier controlled trials by reflecting day-to-day prescribing, adherence, and patient heterogeneity. For nephrology teams, the readout supports use-case planning around expected proteinuria reductions and functional stability. As IgA nephropathy remains a high-burden chronic kidney disease, additional real-world evidence may influence uptake decisions for targeted-release steroid approaches.
