A prospective study in Karachi reported drug-related problems in 93% of hospitalized children with infections, while pharmacist interventions were accepted in 98.7% of cases and returned 142% on investment. The work demonstrates high clinical and economic yield from pharmacist-led medication review in pediatric inpatient care. The finding supports expanding clinical pharmacy services as a measurable intervention for medication safety in infectious disease settings where prescribing errors and risk factors are common. It also provides a performance benchmark—acceptance rates and ROI—for health systems assessing program value. Taken together, the study frames antimicrobial stewardship and medication safety as a pharmacist-delivered operational model with quantifiable outcomes.
