Actio Biosciences has spun out the remainder of its genetics-driven pipeline into Setara Biosciences, after shipping its precision epilepsy drug program to Jazz Pharmaceuticals. Setara has raised $90 million to continue development of the pipeline that Actio was already advancing. The lead program in Setara focuses on Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, with the startup positioned as a second act for the team behind Actio. The financing is expected to fund continued preclinical and clinical work, guided by the prior Actio/Jazz transaction. For the rare-disease ecosystem, the move shows how companies can repackage assets after a deal while keeping organizational know-how and pipeline continuity—particularly when a lead asset is monetized to free capital for the next wave.
