Freenome closed a $310 million SPAC merger with Perceptive Capital Solutions, starting trading on Nasdaq under ticker FRNM. The transaction includes a PIPE commitment led by Perceptive Advisors and RA Capital, plus additional funding from healthcare investors. The newly public company said it is pursuing US FDA approval for its first colorectal cancer test, SimpleScreen CRC, with plans to submit a supplemental premarket application for a second-generation version shortly after. Freenome indicated FDA approval could come “any time,” followed by a submission with an expected 2027 approval timeline for the updated test. Freenome’s platform uses sequencing of methylation signatures from circulating cell-free DNA. The company recently reported topline results for its second-generation CRC test, with stakeholders citing sensitivity performance for precancerous lesions while expressing neutral views on overall sensitivity.
