ARPA-H awarded up to $125 million under its Genetic Medicines and Individualized Manufacturing for Everyone (GIVE) program to build a domestic automated network for RNA-based genetic medicines. The initiative is designed to support on-demand manufacturing at lower cost and to run quality control testing at or near the point of care. The funding splits across four teams developing automated platforms and a separate team focused on automated quality control systems. Massachusetts General Hospital will lead a single-use, all-fluidics chip system for continuous manufacturing and QC, while Centillion Biosciences will build an end-to-end cartridge-driven manufacturing and digital process management architecture. HDT Bio is set to develop an integrated architecture combining automated DNA synthesis, chip-based RNA production, closed fill-finish, and embedded analytical technologies, and Waterfall Scientific will build a fully automated continuous-flow benchtop system with an autonomous lot-release QC approach. A University of Utah-led team will oversee a compact same-day testing platform for multi-parametric lot release.
