QuantumCell struck a licensing deal with AlzeCure Pharma to obtain global rights to ACD856, a small-molecule Trk positive allosteric modulator built to modulate NGF/TrkA and BDNF/TrkB signaling. AlzeCure will receive $12 million upfront, including a $5 million equity investment, with potential development and commercial milestones reaching $2.2 billion. ACD856 is described as having neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and disease-modifying effects in preclinical models, alongside cognitive and learning-memory benefits. AlzeCure also reported Phase 1b data indicating the candidate is safe and well-tolerated at high doses, supporting the asset’s progression in the clinic. The deal extends the pattern of late-stage licensing interest around neurotrophic signaling modulators, with the transaction adding competitive momentum alongside AlzeCure’s prior deal with Eli Lilly for ACD680.
