Researchers are making significant strides in quantum networking and photonic device integration. The University of Innsbruck demonstrated transformative quantum network nodes capable of storing and transmitting quantum information via photons, a key advance in quantum communication. In addition, an international team integrated quantum key distribution with high-speed classical communications across multi-core fibers, combining quantum security with existing telecom infrastructure. Progress in on-chip metasurfaces and reconfigurable photonic chips promise to accelerate AI computation and molecular sensing applications in biomedical settings.
