NorthX Biologics and enGenes Biotech launched an integrated collaboration to build an E. coli-based protein production platform covering strain design through GMP manufacturing. The companies said their main operational goal is to eliminate fragmentation between expression system development and later manufacturing steps that can drive delays, rework, and scale-up risk. They also point to expanding E. coli applicability via strain engineering, including work toward more complex program types. The partnership targets manufacturing demand for biosimilars, peptide therapeutics, and antibody fragments/ADC components—segments facing cost and speed pressures versus mammalian systems.
