Scientists engineered stem cell-derived vesicles loaded with miR-124 to target colorectal cancer in preclinical models. The treatment silenced EZH2 and weakened STAT3 signaling, leading to tumor shrinkage in mice. The strategy combines two translational elements—RNA mimic delivery through nanocarriers and a defined gene-regulatory target (EZH2) tied to STAT3-driven signaling. miR-124 is often discussed as a tumor suppressor microRNA, and the reported pathway links it to a clinically relevant transcriptional program. For biotech, vesicle-based delivery remains a major translational bet; this work strengthens the rationale for evaluating miR-124/vesicle approaches where EZH2–STAT3 network modulation could improve therapeutic depth.
