Transcenta Therapeutics licensed key technologies in its intensified continuous bioprocessing (HiCB) platform and ExcelPro media to WuXi Biologics and its affiliates to accelerate commercialization. Under the terms, Transcenta receives an upfront payment of $1.5 million with milestone payments tied to specified conditions. Transcenta positions HiCB as combining intensified continuous perfusion upstream with hybrid continuous downstream purification to achieve higher productivity than conventional fed-batch workflows. The company says the approach can reduce cost of goods and capital requirements while improving recovery yield and product quality for complex biologics. For biomanufacturing stakeholders, the deal matters because it links process development technology to a major CDMO’s CMC execution capability, potentially shortening the path from upstream innovation to commercial-scale manufacturing.
