SonoThera raised $125 million in an oversubscribed Series B round to advance ultrasound-mediated delivery of genetic medicines for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). The round was led by Vida Ventures with participation from ARK Invest, Otsuka Pharmaceutical, UCB Ventures, and others. The company plans to use proceeds to move lead programs further in clinic, expand pipeline targeted “redosable” genetic medicine approaches, and scale its RIPPLE ultrasound delivery platform plus the PORE payload engineering technology. SonoThera expects to initiate its first clinical trial in DMD in 2027.
