A first-in-human phase I study reported that IMM60—a liposomal iNKT cell agonist—was well tolerated alone or with pembrolizumab in patients with advanced melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer. The trial also reported evidence of immune activation. IMM60 is being positioned to leverage iNKT biology for immunotherapy combinations, with the study design aiming to translate tolerability into later efficacy signals. The early safety and activation readout is a critical milestone for iNKT-directed platforms, especially as combination strategies attempt to improve responses in refractory tumor settings.
