Recent studies have illuminated novel pathological insights into Parkinson’s disease (PD). Researchers have uncovered significant links between digestive health, lifestyle factors, and PD onset and progression, challenging the conventional neurological-centric perspective. Complementing this, a separate investigation published in npj Parkinson's Disease detailed the mechanisms of iron dysregulation both centrally in the brain and peripherally, unveiling critical biochemistry that underpins disease development. Together, these findings deepen our molecular understanding of PD and open avenues for targeted therapeutic interventions.
