Pacific Biosciences said its HiFi long‑read sequencing platform was chosen as the primary technology for the Korean Pangenome Reference Project, which plans to generate more than 1,000 telomere‑to‑telomere whole‑genome assemblies representing the Korean population. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency tapped PacBio for whole‑genome and full‑length RNA analysis and for tools to detect complex structural variants. The selection reinforces demand for high‑accuracy long reads in population genomics and will feed the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium database. PacBio said the award will accelerate discovery of population‑specific structural variants and support research into disease associations and precision medicine in Korea.
