Oxford Nanopore extended hardware and software support for its PromethIon 2 Solo (P2 Solo) sequencer through the end of 2030 after widespread customer backlash to an earlier phase‑out plan. The company will stop selling the P2 Solo this summer but said continued compatibility and support will allow established workflows to transition without disruption. Customers, especially academic and decentralized labs that rely on the platform’s low cost and rapid turnaround, had criticized the initial discontinuation timeline.
