Opentrons Labworks raised $40 million in a Series E round led by healthcare investor Avego, with additional participation from BroadOak Capital Partners. The company plans to expand its robotics, software, and data infrastructure, with a focus on AI-driven experimental execution and automation workflows. Opentrons said the funding will support improved protocol development through AI and additional integration into broader lab automation ecosystems. It also announced work using Nvidia’s Isaac and Cosmos AI platforms to generate training data for physical AI-enabled laboratory robotics. With more than 11,000 robots deployed in over 80 countries, Opentrons’ push reflects accelerated demand for platforms that convert lab work into usable data streams for pharma and diagnostic labs.
