Opentrons Labworks raised $40 million in a Series E financing to expand its robotics, software, and data infrastructure for autonomous science workflows. The round was led by Avego with participation from BroadOak Capital Partners, supporting additional investment in AI-driven experimental execution and deeper integration across lab automation ecosystems. The company said the capital will help scale its automation capabilities, enable faster protocol development through software and AI, and extend the platform into new markets and geographies. Opentrons also highlighted ongoing work using Nvidia’s Isaac and Cosmos AI platforms to generate training data for physical AI-enabled laboratory robotics. Opentrons reported deploying more than 11,000 robots to laboratories across over 80 countries, with customers spanning academic groups, diagnostic labs, and global pharmaceutical companies. Management framed the financing as meeting demand from drug developers and AI labs moving experimental work toward automated workflows that generate usable data. The fundraise signals continued investor confidence in “autonomous science” tooling as biopharma suppliers prioritize end-to-end systems for reproducible experimental generation and data capture.
