Opentrons raised $40 million in a Series E round to scale its robotics, software, and data infrastructure. The financing, led by Avego with BroadOak Capital Partners among the investors, is intended to expand autonomous experimental execution and AI-driven workflow capabilities for life science labs. Opentrons said the capital will support AI-enabled experimental execution, extend automation across robots and instruments, and deepen integration into the lab automation ecosystem. The company also highlighted that it has deployed more than 11,000 robots across over 80 countries, serving academic, diagnostic, and pharmaceutical customers. The round reinforces the competitive race to standardize lab automation and data-generation pipelines as drug developers push toward higher-throughput, machine-guided experimentation.
