Freenome reported clinical validation results for its updated SimpleScreen CRC blood test, saying the platform met primary and secondary endpoints. The study used blinded, previously unevaluated samples from the prospective PREEMPT CRC registrational program and also included previously tested specimens across more than 200 sites. The company reported overall sensitivity of 80.4% with specificity of 90%, with sensitivity varying by precancer lesion grade and cancer stage. Freenome said the updated version improves life-years gained and cases of cancer prevented versus the earlier test version. Patient and stakeholder reactions were described as mixed, but the dataset provides a regulator-facing benchmark for next-generation screening performance in average-risk colorectal cancer populations.
