Akeso and Summit Therapeutics used late-stage results at the World Conference on Lung Cancer to press a case for ivonescimab, a dual-acting PD-1/VEGF antibody, in previously treated lung cancer. In HARMONi-2, the updated overall survival analysis showed a relative reduction in the risk of death versus Merck’s Keytruda, including stronger benefits in biomarker-defined subgroups. The companies said ivonescimab reduced overall-survival risk by 27% in the overall population, with a reported median of 30.8 months vs 22.6 months for Keytruda. In a smaller group defined by high levels of the shared target PD-L1, the relative risk reduction was reported at 42%. Investors have questioned whether China-based trial results can translate globally, so the new data are positioned as evidence to address uncertainty ahead of confirmatory Phase 3 plans tied to potential regulatory submissions outside China.
