A two-sequence shortened liver MRI protocol using hepatobiliary phase imaging detected tumor recurrence after microwave ablation with reported 87.5% sensitivity and 97.6% specificity. The study suggests the method could replace full-protocol surveillance MRI with a faster, potentially lower-cost imaging workflow. For interventional oncology teams, the clinical value hinges on maintaining accuracy while reducing scan burden for recurrence detection after ablation.
