Multiple oncology updates focused on treatment sequencing and disease control. A randomized phase 3 trial reported that fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery after brain metastasis surgery reduces recurrence at the surgical site and extends median survival without increasing side effects. In lung cancer, a randomized phase 3 result in small cell lung cancer with brain metastases found stereotactic radiosurgery improved median survival versus hippocampal-avoidant whole-brain radiation therapy, with no significant cognitive-decline difference reported. On the translational side, an FDA-cleared clinical tool theme also surfaced: rapid diagnostic approaches and companion diagnostic bridging studies remain central to matching patients to tumor-agnostic immunotherapy. A separate update describes post-marketing bridging studies validating commercial companion diagnostics used to identify pembrolizumab eligibility for dMMR/MSI-H tumors.
