Akeso’s ivonescimab extended survival in squamous non-small cell lung cancer in a China-only Phase 3 program presented at ASCO. In Harmoni-6, the PD-1/VEGF bispecific plus chemotherapy reduced the risk of death by 34% versus a standard comparator regimen that paired a PD-1 inhibitor with chemotherapy. The interim overall survival analysis reached a prespecified threshold, with a reported p-value of 0.0017 against a boundary of 0.0049. The dataset was also notable for being selected from a China-based trial for plenary presentation. The results build on earlier progression-free survival wins for ivonescimab in Chinese head-to-head studies, but the new overall survival headline is the key metric being used by oncologists to assess whether VEGF-driven strategies can translate into durable benefit in first-line settings.
