Akeso and Summit Therapeutics released new overall survival data for ivonescimab (HARMONi-2), aiming to address analyst skepticism about trial generalizability beyond China. The companies reported that relative risk of death was lower with ivonescimab than with Merck’s Keytruda, alongside improvements in progression measures. The latest data were unveiled at the World Conference on Lung Cancer meeting in South Korea, continuing a spotlight on dual-acting PD-1/VEGF approaches as potential successors to Keytruda-style backbones in lung cancer care. A subgroup of patients whose tumors express high levels of the shared target protein saw a larger hazard reduction. The company also flagged ongoing development plans, including the HARMONi-7 trial in non-small cell lung cancer enriched for PD-L1 expression, which may support future regulatory submissions outside China if results remain consistent.
