Eli Lilly reported two additional Phase 3 obesity results for retatrutide (its “triple-G” program) covering patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular complications. The new top-line readouts, delivered across the Triumph-2 and Triumph-3 trials, support Lilly’s plan to file a Biologics License Application as it pushes retatrutide toward approval. In Triumph-2, Lilly said the highest tested 12-mg and 9-mg doses achieved weight-loss outcomes substantially exceeding placebo, while Triumph-3 similarly showed durable reductions in severe obesity settings paired with cardiovascular endpoints. Additional analyses will be needed to determine how consistently cardiovascular risk signals translate into clinically meaningful outcomes. Market participants are weighing whether the trial program can position retatrutide above existing GLP-1/GIP competitors on both efficacy breadth and safety, particularly given prior scrutiny around whether weight loss reliably drives cardiovascular benefit. Still, with Lilly advancing multiple obesity programs in parallel, regulators are likely to face an expanded dataset as the BLA filing window approaches early next year.
