Kailera reported early Phase 1 results for KAI-4729, a triple-acting obesity investigational therapy developed in collaboration with Hengrui Pharmaceuticals. In the China study, Kailera said participants achieved double-digit weight loss over 12 weeks, with weight reductions reaching up to 16% in dose-escalation cohorts. Kailera’s readout follows its move to scale a China-focused development approach while preparing its own Phase 1 program outside China and with Hengrui advancing the asset into Phase 2. The company’s IPO proceeds are intended to fund development through 2028. The update lands as the obesity market continues to intensify competition among GLP-1/GIP and multi-hormone regimens, where early differentiation on magnitude and durability becomes critical for future trial design.
