Eli Lilly shared additional safety and tolerability data for retatrutide at the American Diabetes Association meeting, extending the profile of its next-generation obesity program. In participants receiving retatrutide in the TRANSCEND-T2D-1 study, seven of 403 experienced arrhythmias and three had major cardiovascular complications, compared with none in the placebo group, according to data published in The Lancet. The update arrives as the obesity market remains focused on differentiating next-generation incretin/GLP-1-based therapies by speed of weight loss, durability, and safety. Lilly’s disclosures highlight that cardiovascular events remain a key monitor for late-stage obesity development programs even as efficacy signals strengthen.
