FDA cleared Diasorin’s Liaison Plex Gastrointestinal Flex Assay, a customizable syndromic GI pathogen PCR panel. Diasorin said the assay detects 24 pathogens across bacteria, viruses and parasites, including Microsporidia, Dientamoeba fragilis, and Strongyloides stercoralis, which are not typically included on competing multiplex panels. Diasorin described the Flex software as enabling labs to adjust test menus based on seasonality, clinical presentation, guidelines, travel history and patient immune status. The clearance adds to the Liaison Plex core portfolio, joining other cleared Flex products such as Respiratory Flex. The move emphasizes diagnostic stewardship and workflow flexibility for labs balancing test breadth and clinical relevance, particularly in outpatient and hospital settings with high variability in GI symptom presentations.
